Construction Management is a superb vehicle for fast-track operations; it maximizes competition, it is flexible in dealing with unforeseen changes and savings in cost are returned to the client. MAG provides all technical and administrative management services and expertise in order to effectively plan and manage the project from inception through design development, implementation to completion and project hand-over. The following diagram illustrates the time saving which can be attributed to a project when Construction Management is applied :

By adopting a Construction Management approach to a project the client benefits by the works being able to be commenced early as the works are contracted as works packages which are coordinated and managed by the Construction Manager (i.e. earthworks can commence while detailed design and tenders for the works to follow are finalized). Construction Management is also far more cost effective as the various trade contractors are contracted directly and not through a main contractor who
would in turn add profit and attendance onto the trade contract sum.

2.3 Quantity Surveyor (QS)

A Quantity Surveyor typically manages the financial aspects of a building or construction project. Historically the quantity surveyor was responsible for the measurement and scheduling of all materials and works involved in building. Nowadays, the role of the quantity surveyor can range from feasibility studies and economic evaluation including determining budgets, to forecasting future values and cash flow, as well as accounting for quantities of building materials, estimating the value of future works and monitoring the expenditure, variations and claims during the construction phase of a project.

Some Quantity Surveyors are involved in research as well as program, project or facilities management, tax depreciation and cost management of events or business operations. A Quantity Surveyor is sometimes referred to as a Cost Consultant, Cost Engineer or Building Economist in different parts of the world. Most often, the quantity surveyor is simply known as "the QS" in a project team.
